#CauseCaringCounts

It’s Tuesday. Claire’s Mom has been dreading Tuesday for a while.

It’s time to take Claire to the hospital to have her port accessed. The port is under the skin, so it’s very painful.

Before leaving home, Claire’s Mom rubs Emla cream on the area where she knows it will hurt. The Emla will help dull some of the pain. Anything to make it easier for Claire.

Mom tucks Claire into the car wrapped in the quilt she received with the welcome care package from Childcan. Most of the gift cards from that package have long been spent, but she kept one gas card. Just enough for today’s trip to the hospital.

At least this time she doesn’t need to worry about meals or staying overnight. Last time, Ronald McDonald House was full, and she was grateful for the reduced hotel rate that Childcan was able to secure for her stay.

She starts the car, already thinking ahead to taking Claire’s temperature when they return home later in the day.

She’s hoping that Claire will be okay and not develop an infection.

There are so many things for parents to worry about on the childhood cancer journey.

With your help, Childcan can reduce some of the burden.

Become a monthly donor #CauseCaringCounts all year long. Because when you become a monthly donor, you are helping reduce the burden for families like Claire’s every month of the year.
